TP980 Probe Reading Accuracy Follow
If you suspect that your TP980 probes are reading inaccurately, we recommend a few ways to check if your probes are giving you inaccurate readings:
- Room temperature test: While the probe isn't inserted into anything and is sitting at room temperature, would you consider that reading to be close to accurate based on your home thermostat?
Note: Keep in-mind handling the probe and being in close proximity to it may
give you a temperature that's a few degrees, but not many, higher than the
actual temperature.
For a more precise assessment of your probes accuracy try the following:
- Boiling water test: Get a pot of water to a roiling boil. Without removing the pot from heat, use the tip of the probe to test the temperature of the water (Try to keep the probe from making contact the pot). You should be getting a temperature that is within 1-2 degrees from 212 F (100 C).
