Probes not working Follow
Is your probe reading HHH, LLL, --- or is it no longer reading accurately? Please read error explanation and resolutions below!
If the probe reading HHH, please try removing it from the device and firmly re-inserting back into the device until a click is felt/heard. If this did not fix your issue, it is possible the temperature is too high for the probe to read or it is defective and needs to be replaced.
If the probe is reading LLL, please make sure the food is not frozen or extremely cold as this will cause the probe to read LLL. If the food is not frozen, it is possible your probe is defective and needs to be replaced.
If the probe is reading dashes (- - -), this can mean the probe is not inserted properly or your device needs to be re-connected. Please follow the pairing steps for your model in the operating manual page.
If you suspect that your probe/device is reading inaccurately. We recommend a few ways to check if your thermometer is giving you inaccurate readings:
- Room temperature test: While the probe isn't inserted into anything and is sitting at room temperature, would you consider that reading to be close to accurate based on your home thermostat?
Note: Keep in-mind handling the probe and being in close proximity to it may
give you a temperature that's a few degrees, but not many, higher than the
actual temperature. For a more precise assessment of your probes accuracy try the following:
- Boiling water test: Get a pot of water to a rolling boil. Without removing the pot from heat, use the tip of the probe to test the temperature of the water (Try to keep the probe from making contact with the pot). You should be getting a temperature that is within a degree or 2 from 212 F (100 C).
Note: The reading for boiling point decreases with elevation. An increase
of 500 ft. will cause a decrease of roughly 0.9 F. For example, if you
live at 4000 ft. elevation, your boiling point will be around 205 F (96 C). If you discover the readings are inaccurate after these tests, you can calibrate your device via calibration steps in the manual if it has the calibration feature available. If it does not have the calibration feature, you will need to Contact Us for a probe replacement. Please provide us with your order number from whichever marketplace you purchased this.
