Accuracy Issues Follow
Are your probes or device no longer working? Do you believe them to be inaccurate? This article will go over how to properly test them to see if they are accurate and how to proceed to receive a replacement if they are inaccurate.
Lets start with the Cooking Thermometer! (scroll down for Temperature and Humidity Hygrometers)
To start, we can ensure you that all of our devices come calibrated and you should not have to re-calibrate the device yourself.
To check if your probes/device is giving you inaccurate readings, please try the below methods:
- Room temperature test: While the probe isn't inserted into anything and is sitting at room temperature, would you consider that reading to be close to accurate based on your home thermostat?
Note: Keep in-mind handling the probe and being in close proximity to it may
give you a temperature that's a few degrees, but not many, higher than the
actual temperature. For a more precise assessment of your probes accuracy try the following:
- Boiling water test: Get a pot of water to a rolling boil. Without removing the pot from heat, use the tip of the probe to test the temperature of the water (Try to keep the probe from making contact with the pot). You should be getting a temperature that is within a degree or 2 from 212 F (100 C).
Note: The reading for boiling point decreases with elevation. An increase
of 500 ft. will cause a decrease of roughly 0.9 F. For example, if you
live at 4000 ft. elevation, your boiling point will be around 205 F (96 C). If you discover the readings are inaccurate after these tests, you can calibrate your device via calibration steps in the manual if it has the calibration feature available. (only applies to select instant-read thermometers) If you no longer have the manual, all manuals can be found in this link below:

If your positive your probe/device is inaccurate, please Contact Us with your Order and Shipping Information along with a brief description of the issue and one of our agents will replace your probe/device if it is within warranty.
Testing your Temperature & Humidity Hygrometer:
If you've just unpackaged this device, we first recommend giving the device a couple hours to acclimatize to its atmosphere before comparing the readings.
The best way to test the accuracy is to compare it to a known accurate device such as a house thermostat or another device. (do not compare to a local weather station as it is not specific to your location)
If you have an indoor/outdoor model, you can place the two devices side by side, allow them some time and the readings should within tolerance of each other.
Our temperature tolerance is +/- 2 degrees F and humidity tolerance is +/- 3%, if they vary outside of this tolerance range, please Contact Us with your Order and Shipping information so we can look further into this and replace your device if necessary.
